Good morning, Funds Fans!  I hope you all had a lovely Easter Long Weekend.  We certainly did and being busy bees, here it is Wednesday already.  Before we have a looky look at today’s money offerings, can I get an “amen” for this sunshine?   Hang on… it was there a minute ago.  Well, nevermind it will be back.

From bees to heifers now, folks.Heifer Canada International   has put out an RFP called First Nations Agricultural Interventions Research in Canada.  Deadline is April 27th, 2011.  Maximum grant $20,000 CDN.

In Canada, Heifer’s (HIC) work focuses on supporting low income, food insecure people in achieving sustainable, socio-economically resilient livelihoods through agroecological interventions.  As such (HIC) has determined that Community Economic Development (CED) in First Nations communities is a priority for their programmatic portfolio. The complex nature of this work requires understanding the assets and best practices that are already in place and determining what HIC can do to provide support for positive change.

HIC will engage with a consultant to pursue Canada-wide research to address a set of questions and consider different stakeholders including other non-profits, government, health authorities, band councils, and others in this field.   Project deliverables include a comprehensive report that answers the (provided) set of questions, written recommendations regarding opportunities and key directions for HIC and the completion of the project on time and within budget.

For any of you with friends or family living in and around Victoria, the SportStart program provides grants for children and youth under 19 years who require full or partial funding in order to participate in programs at the Pacific Institute of Sport Excellence (PISE).  Grants are applied directly to PISE for the payment of sport camps and community programs and applications should be received 2 weeks prior to the beginning of the program requested.

Let’s see here, what else do I have for you today?  Oh yes, the Chilliwack Foundation will soon be opening it’s proposal process! The Chilliwack Foundation is a non-profit organization incorporated in 1985 by an Act of the B.C. Legislative Assembly to accept and administer funds designed to promote charitable, educational and cultural interests within the community.  Eligible applicants are those who appear to contribute to the cultural, recreational, religious or physical well-being of the community and those likely to promote research advancement and scientific or medical research for the increase of human knowledge and the alleviation of human suffering.  Applications for financial assistance are accepted from local, educational and cultural groups.  I’m told that official notice will be in local papers within the next few weeks so please watch for it.  For any keeners out there who want to get a head start, please fill out the application here.

That’s where it’s at today folks.  As my schedule becoms less hectic I’ll be sure to post more.  You can also scroll through the Deadline Alerts for other opportunities upcoming this month.
