Funds from Honda, Starbucks and the Koerner Foundation

Hello Funds Fans!  We have an eclectic selection of funders for this Monday post.  Don’t forget to check out the June Deadline Alerts are there are still many other funding sources available this month.

The Starbucks Foundation reviews Letters of Inquiry on an annual basis beginning October 1st to December 1st each year. The Starbucks Foundation does not accept unsolicited proposals by mail or email. The Foundation makes grants to organizations that provide training to young people to develop necessary skills and knowledge to incubate ideas, identify and assess community needs, create a plan of action, execute a plan and evaluate outcomes against goals; build ongoing leadership capacity and long term engagement of young people; communicates young peoples’ success stories through various media (print, video, web based).

The Honda Canada Foundation‘s mission is to enhance the social well being of Canadian communities through responsible investment in organizations that share our vision and values and focus on youth in our communities.  The Foundation is proud to be involved with charitable purposes that reflect the basic tenets, beliefs and philosophies of the Honda companies. The next deadline for applications is  August 1st, 2012.  (Grants awarded by November 2012)

Grant support is provided to charitable groups with CRA status such as:

  • Educational institutions (primary, secondary, college, university)
  • Charitable non-profit organizations
  • Scientific and educational charitable non-profit groups
  • Education-research organizations
  • Other, tax exempt, national institutions in the fields of education, environment, and engineering

The Leon and Thea Koerner Foundation provides funding to stimulate and invigorate non-profit organizations in the cultural and creative arts and the social services who serve communities throughout British Columbia.  The grants are given so that groups may undertake programs and/or projects that would not be possible otherwise, or require additional financial assistance.  In 2012, the Foundation awarded grants of between $5,000 and $25,000.  The 2013 application forms will be available in December.

The Foundation will consider formal applications in the following areas:

Cultural and Creative Arts: eligible disciplines include:  the visual arts, theatre, music, dance, festivals, heritage organizations, community arts councils, arts education, media arts, and libraries, particularly in smaller communities.

Social Services: eligible disciplines include:  families and youth, early childhood education, at-risk youth, the disabled, seniors, and neighbourhood houses.

The Leon and Thea Koerner Award in the Fine and Performing Arts: students from British Columbia who wish to attend any recognized institution in their field of study anywhere in the world are eligible for funding consideration through the Leon and Thea Koerner Award in the Fine and Performing Arts.
