A Cornucopia of Funding!

Welcome to Wednesday, Funds Fans!  For those of you just tuning in, what we do here is provide you with timely updates on open funding calls, Request for Proposal opportunities and other avenues to source out funding for your community, organization or client.  Some funding agencies only provide a very short window of opportunity so please subscribe on FaceBook, Twitter or on the right hand side of this page with your email in order to receive any ALERTS.  As we have a number of funders and deadlines for you today, let’s just get right to it!

The Vancouver Foundation requests that Letters of Intent (LOI) be sent by July 27, 2012 (by midnight) for funding requests under the following categories: Arts and Culture; Children, Youth and Families; Environment; Education; Health and Medical Education/Research; Health and Social Development; Disability Supports for Employment Fund.  If your LOI is accepted, full grant applications are due by September 14, 2012 4:30 PM with final decisions being made mid-December, 2012.

Also, the BC Arts Council has a deadline of August 1st for the following funding streams:

The Special Project Assistance – Capacity and Sustainability Program is designed to assist arts and cultural organizations  to undertake specific activities that will increase their capacity and contritube to long term sustainability.

Special Project Assistance – Co-op Placements is a  program which supports arts and cultural organizations hiring students through co-op placements for professional work experience.

Project Assistance Program – Professional Development – This program is designed to assist professional artists and arts administrators to undertake specific activities to advance their practice or career. The program assists professional artists and arts administrators who demonstrate a high degree of critical self-reflection and link the proposed project with the next stage of their professional development.

Special Project – Touring Initiatives supports B.C. artists and arts organizations undertaking touring activities outside the province that will lead to enhanced professional opportunities. Funding is provided for projects that are scheduled as part of significant national or international cultural events or that take advantage of significant market development opportunities. Priority will be given to professionally organized tours for which artists are receiving fees. Applicants who have recently received assistance through the BC Arts Council may also receive priority.

We’ve previously blogged about Community Gaming Grants but it’s worth mentioning that the Public Safety and the Environment streams are now accepting applications.  Deadline: August 31, 2012.  Maximum Grants are as follows:

Local organizations: up to $100,000 per year
Regional organizations: up to $225,000 per year
Province-wide organizations: up to $250,000 per year

The Vancouver Foundation also supports the Youth Philanthropy Council program with grants ranging from $1000 to $10,000.  Letter of Intent Deadline: September 14, 2012(by midnight).  The Youth Philanthropy Council funds projects that are youth driven and/or include youth in their design, implementation and decision making; build good youth partnerships and connections; increase awareness of the diversity of youth ideas and experiences in communities.  If your LOI is accepted, the grant applications are due October 12, 2012 4:30 PM with final decisions made by mid-December, 2012.

Also due September 14, 2012 and also through the Vancouver Foundation is the Generation Green Grants program with grants ranging from $1000 to $10,000. For 2012, the Generation Green Grants have a special focus on sustainable food. Project ideas include growing and sharing food; ensuring equitable access to safe and healthy food or reducing energy consumption during food production. However, we are also interested in other great youth ideas to make Vancouver green.
