NEW! Money for Mathematics and Accounting Research

Good day, Funds Fans!  One topic we haven’t posted about is math and math related funds.  Today is the day we remedy that situation.

The Canadian Mathematical Society provides annual Math Competition Grants which are open to contests of different kinds at the school level.  Grants range between $500 and $1000. Deadline: November 15th, 2012.  Contests can be Traditional (students solve problems in a timed written exam); Projects (Teams competing to solve a strategic problem over a longer period of time); or Posters (Preparation of a mathematical solution or discussion for display purposes)

Preference will be given to competitions which embrace a number of regional schools (city, county or province-wide); new ventures or those which are aiming to expand their reach; competitions which have matching sources of funding or which are aiming to become self-sufficient.  Grants may not be used for salaries but are designed for costs associated with supplies, travel costs, reproduction costs, prizes, publicity, and related expenses.

For those of you in the accounting field, the Canadian Academic Accounting Association has several research funds available to its members.  Each fund opens for one call for proposals per year.    At present, the CAAA Research Grant Program is accepting applications for projects of relevance to accounting academic or professional communities. The research under this program need not lead to publication in a scholarly journal, although it may lead to one or more such publications. The research project may result in a report that is both useful to practitioners and provides background in an area that could be the subject of further academic exploration.  Maximum Grant: $10,000 (two available). Deadline: October 31st, 2012.

There’s where we found some today, folks!  Remember, if you can’t make use of the information you probably know someone who can so share, share, share.
