NOW OPEN: SWC Ending violence against women and girls

Status of Women CanadaHi again, Funds Fans!  September is turning up a bumper crop of fantastic funding opportunities.

Status of Women in Canada has just opened a Call for Proposals for a suite of programs entitled Working Together: Engaging communities to end violence against women and girls.

Four thematic areas are covered:

  • Preventing & reducing violence against women and girls in high-risk neighbourhoods – Deadline: October 12, 2012
  • Engaging men & boys in ending violence against women and girls – Deadline: October 12, 2012
  • Preventing & reducing violence against women and girls in the name of “honour” – Deadline: November 9, 2012
  • Preventing & reducing the trafficking of women and girls through community planning – Deadline: November 9, 2012

Eligibility includes:

  • Incorporated not-for-profit and for-profit Canadian organizations with the mandate, experience, expertise and capacity to deliver the proposed project.
  • Territorial governments and their agencies in the Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.
  • Aboriginal governments and their agencies in rural and remote areas where there is a lack of capacity of non-profit and for-profit organizations.

What can be funded?

Eligible expenditure categories are detailed in the budget form.  Administration costs, which are costs related to central administrative functions of the organization that are used to support project activities must not exceed 20% of the total amount requested from Status of Women Canada. Administration costs could include, but are not limited to: salaries and benefits specifically relating to administration and managerial supervision; professional fees (e.g. accounting); office expenses; office equipment (e.g. photocopiers and computer equipment); postage; telephones; IT maintenance and other related costs.
