Healthcare Grants, Scholarships and Project Funds NOW AVAILABLE :)

Healthcare funding now open!Happy Saturday to you, Funds Fans!  We have some great resources for the health care field today, so please share this post with all the healthcare students and program coordinators that you know.

The McKesson Foundation has just opened it’s annual Call for Proposals to its Regional Grants Program in Canada.  Grants range from $2,500 to $25,000.  Deadline:  October 31, 2012.   In keeping with their philosophy of Empowering Healthcare at McKesson Canada they also believe that it is their responsibility to help the most vulnerable and at-risk members of the communities in which they operate. Each year, the McKesson Foundation’s Regional Grants Program makes it possible for many Canadian non-profit charities to improve the status of children and youth in the areas of health and education.  Guidelines and selection criteria are here and the application process is on-line through Grantstream.

Indspire, formerly the National Aboriginal Achievement Foundation, has evolved into the largest non-governmental funding body for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis post secondary students across Canada. Bursary and scholarship awards are provided to First Nation, Inuit, and Métis students annually across a diverse range of disciplines.  In total, Indspire has disbursed over $49-million to over 14,000 recipients since its inception. Indspire offers financial assistance (scholarships and bursaries) through four major categories: Post Secondary Education, Fine Arts, Health Careers, and Oil & Gas Aboriginal Trades & Technology.  Upcoming application deadlines include:

  • Aboriginal Health Careers – November 1st
  • Post Secondary Education – November 1st
  • Oil & Gas, Trades & Technology (OGTT) – November 30th

To be accepted for jury consideration, applications must be completed as stated on the application guidelines and form and must be postmarked on or before the deadline date.  ndspire’s goal is to help students realize their dreams and aspirations to build brighter futures. All applicants who need assistance in completing their application forms or those who wish to discuss their plans for higher education are encouraged to contact the staff of the education department.  Please note that the bursary and scholarship funding awarded to applicants must be used in the year for which it is requested.  Students are encouraged to check regularly for updates and postings of additional opportunities for special bursaries that become available from time to time.

The J.W. McConnel Family Foundation is accepting applications to the Community Service Learning Program.  The CSL Awards will recognize successful community initiatives supported by robust community service-learning programs. They will highlight innovative approaches that have—and will continue to—transform relationships, structures, policies, and/or mainstream practices. The Foundation hopes that such recognition will encourage similar initiatives in communities across the country.   Community organizations and post-secondary institutions are invited to jointly submit an application by January 31, 2013. Award winners will be announced in June 2013 at a public event and several outstanding initiatives will be profiled in the media.

ELIGIBILITY: Any community initiative in Canada that is supported by community service-learning activities at the post-secondary level is eligible.

AWARDS: A total of $30,000 is available for up to four awards of $7,500 each.
