…and then there was more!

Welcome!Happy Wednesday, Funds Fans!  For those of you just tuning in, what I do here is provide you with timely updates on open funding calls, Request for Proposal opportunities and other avenues to source out funding for your community, organization or client.  Some funding agencies only provide a very short window of opportunity so please subscribe on FaceBook, Twitter or on the right hand side of this page with your email in order to receive any ALERTS.

Now, let’s get to it.  Where’s the money?

Mountain Equipment Co-op provides a number of granting streams.  The next deadline to apply is March 10th, 2013 under the following project themes:

Capacity Building Grants: To strengthen the effectiveness of conservation and outdoor activity organizations. Grants range from $5,000 to $35,000.

Advocacy and Awareness Grants: To advocate for the conservation of landscapes and raise Canadians’ awareness and understanding of current issues. Grants range from $1,000 to $15,000.

Access & Activity Grants: Access and Activity Grants support programs, initiatives and infrastructure projects that encourage backcountry, urban and near-urban outdoor recreation. Grants range from $500 to $15,000.

Land Acquisition Grants: To conserve ecologically and/or recreationally significant resources. Grants range from $10,000 to $100,000.

Also on the radar today is BC Rehab.  This organization works toward a British Columbia that is inclusive and accessible to all people. They promote projects and initiatives that increase accessibility so that all people — regardless of their physical capabilities — can thrive, participate and contribute in their communities. Through advocacy and fundraising efforts they are able to assist British Columbians who are living with a physical disability. Grants fulfill individual needs, such as personal mobility equipment, when individuals cannot afford to purchase such items on their own. At BC Rehab they celebrate and support people with disabilities in their journey toward achieving their own form of independence.  Applications under the Individual Grant Program and Project Grant Program are currently being accepted.  Deadline: March 1st, 2013.

Check out the Wonder+ Cares Healthy Active Kids Grants from Weston too, which provides up to $15,000 towards increasing access to high-quality after-school programming for children in Kindergarten to Grade 8. The goal of these grants is to increase access to innovative recreational programs that help young Canadians improve their fitness and nutrition levels, connect to their community and develop skills that they will be able to use throughout their lives.  Deadline: March 18th, 2013.

There it is, folks! Go get it!
