Hi Funds Fans!  Here is a fabulous training opportunity for First Nations individuals in Canada interested in contributing to the preservation of their cultural and heritage artifacts and traditional knowledge. The Aboriginal Training Program in Museum Practices provides Aboriginal people with professional and technical training in museum practices as well as internship opportunities at the Canadian Museum of Civilization.  The annual application deadline is March 15.  The program provides a small stipend, travel, training and facilities for  the Program. Participants are encouraged to seek additional sources of financial support to cover living expenses.

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • have completed grade 12 (or secondary 4 in Quebec); or
  • have experience in Aboriginal culture interpretation or related skills
  • Other criteria may apply.

Applications must contain the following documents:

  • a current résumé
  • a statement of interest in the Program
  • two letters of reference from an Aboriginal community or organization, or from individuals in a position of authority
