$25,000 for financial literacy 

UMW Financial Literacy grantsTGIF, Funds Fans!  Another new funder for you today.  I must be on a roll… and that means cash roll for you.  Here it is:

United Methodist Women is accepting applications from nonprofit organizations working to promote financial literacy around the world.  Maximum Grant: $25,000.  Deadline: June 30th, 2013.

Through the Living Stewardship: Creating Financial Literacy initiative, grants will be awarded to nonprofit organizations working to empower and educate their constituents through the knowledge and development of financial literacy skills. Priority will be given to projects that build the capacity of individuals to change their own situations and prioritize the involvement of women in project initiation, implementation, and evaluation. Funds can be requested to start a new project or to strengthen an ongoing program.

Greater financial literacy will build skills and knowledge among target populations in areas such as, but not limited to, personal and household financial budget planning and cash management, savings, credit access and management, formal and informal banking, safety-net planning; thereby, equipping people to better understand and manage household and personal finances to advance their economic situation.
