Funding here!TGIF!  Amiright Funds Fans?  Today provides for another mixed bag of funders, so let’s get right to it.

The BC Arts Council has a few deadlines coming up.  They are:

July 2nd, 2013: Special Project Assistance – Co-op Placements is a program which supports arts and cultural organizations hiring students through co-op placements for professional work experience.  The Association for Co-operative Education in British Columbia/Yukon (ACE) is a provincial non-profit organization of all post-secondary institutions in the region that offer Co-operative Education programs.

July 5th, 2013: The Special Project Assistance – Capacity and Sustainability Program is designed to assist arts and cultural organizations planning to undertake specific activities that will increase their capacity and contribute to long term sustainability.  The program is intended to assist organizations that can demonstrate a high degree of critical self-reflection. A competitive submission will include analysis of the organization’s stage in its life cycle, details of the specific impacts of the current environment, realistic assumptions and explanation of the anticipated results, including the knowledge gained through the project.

July 15th, 2013Project Assistance – Arts Based Community Development Awards are available to assist with projects that develop and extend the practice and understanding of arts-based community development through the processes of creating art, producing events, and developing resource materials for arts-based community development practitioners.

August 1st, 2013: The Professional Development Project Assistance program assists professional artists and arts administrators 1) to take advantage of opportunities which require travel; or 2) to undertake specific learning activities to advance their practice or career. The program assists those who demonstrate a high degree of critical self-reflection and link activities to the next stage of their professional development.

August 1st, 2013: Touring Initiatives supports B.C. artists and arts organizations undertaking touring activities outside the province that will lead to enhanced professional opportunities. Funding is provided for projects that are scheduled as part of significant national or international cultural events or that take advantage of significant market development and audience development and touring opportunities. Priority will be given to professionally organized tours for which artists are receiving fees. Applicants who have recently received assistance through the BC Arts Council may also receive priority.

Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL) is announcing a Call for Proposals for Basic Research, Applied Research and Experimental Development projects.  The purpose of the Call for Proposals is intended to advance AECL’s S&T priorities through the use of AECL’s facilities and expertise. Collaborations that are accepted in this Call are organized via either a university, federal government laboratory, non-profit research organization, or any combination thereof, who act as the primary contact organization (proponent), and a third-party participant brought on by the proponent, who acts as the secondary contact.  All proposals must be received by June 30th, 2013.

Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has issued a Call for Proposals for the delivery of settlement services in British Columbia (B.C.), which assist newcomers to succeed in their new lives in the province.  The Call for Proposals will be open for a period of five weeks, beginning today and ending July 8, 2013. Following a review of all received proposals, CIC will determine which organizations or individuals will receive funding to provide settlement services in B.C, starting in April 2014, when the Government of Canada resumes management of federally-funded settlement programs in the province.  Agreements of a maximum of two years will be signed with successful applicants, after which point individuals and organizations will be invited to compete in the national Call for Proposals.  Deadline: July 8th, 2013.
