    BREAKING NEWS: $25K to $50K for Social Service, Food System and Childcare Organizations in Vancouver 

    Social Innovation Project Grants

    Hi again Funds Fans!¬† A BRAND NEW funding opportunity just came up ūüôā

    The City of Vancouver’s Social Policy Division is pleased to announce a new project grant opportunity for Social Service, Food System and Childcare Organizations that will compliment Vancouver’s bold and ambitious plan for a healthy city for all. Organizations with time-limited projects that fit the strategic priorities of the City, and which match the three key strategic areas of the new Healthy City Strategy are encouraged to apply.

    Projects that align with the Healthy City Strategy will be given favourable consideration. The Strategy aims to:

    • Increase the overall well-being of vulnerable populations,
    • Cultivate an engaged and connected city, and
    • Ensure livable environments now and into the future.

    Social Innovation Project grants are for a one or two year term only.  Total funding is approximately $25,000 per project/year.  2-year projects should target around $50,000 total.  Deadline: Friday, October 11th, 2013.

    DEADLINE ALERT: BC Arts Council Grants 

    Deadline Alert!

    Welcome to Thursday, Funds Fans!  Today I have more support for writers and creative agencies in B.C.

    The BC Arts Council has upcoming deadlines in the following program areas:

    Project Assistance for Creative Writers: This program assists professional writers with the writing of specific creative projects. Eligible genres include drama, fiction, graphic novel, juvenile, non-fiction, poetry and spoken word. Awards are available to support the creation of new works or the re-writing of existing unpublished or unproduced manuscripts. Applications may be made by individuals or a collaboration of two or more writers who share creative control/authorship of a project.  There are two levels of awards in this program: Level I: awards up to $6,000 and Level II: awards up to $12,000.  Deadline: September 15th, 2013.

    Operating Assistance РArts and Cultural Services Organizations: Operating Assistance contributes to the support of service organizations that provide quality services to an established membership base and demonstrate ongoing local, provincial and/or national activity with provincial impact.  Deadline: September 23rd, 2013.

    Operating Assistance РCommunity Arts Councils operating awards are made once each fiscal year for the future year’s activities. Assistance is available to Community Arts Councils in British Columbia that: provide access to a range of artistic and cultural activities, develop and encourage leadership for arts and culture at the community level, and encourage support for arts and culture from local and regional governments. Deadline: September 30th, 2013.

    Operating Assistance РMedia Arts Organizations: Operating Assistance contributes to the support of professional, not-for-profit media arts organizations that sustain an annual artistic program encompassing production, distribution, collections and dissemination activities.  Media arts are defined as works in film, video, audio/sound art and new media. New media includes new information and communications technologies used for artistic expression.  Deadline: September 30th, 2013.

    Operating Assistance РProfessional Arts Festivals: Operating Assistance contributes to the support of established arts festivals that produce a major annual festival, present and feature professional artists, have a clear unifying theme or vision, and have stable artistic and administrative leadership.  Deadline: September 30th, 2013.

    Operating Assistance РPublic Museums: Operating Assistance contributes to the support of public program activities at professional, non-profit public museums that sustain an annual artistic and curatorial program encompassing creation, development, presentation, collections and dissemination activities.  Deadline: September 30th, 2013.
