NOW OPEN: School Garden Grant Program

School Garden Grant ProgramHi Funds Fans! Here’s a gooder of a funding program that encourages children and youth to better understand and take a hands-on approach to fresh, wholesome food production.

In collaboration with FoodCorps, the Whole Kids Foundation is accepting applications for the School Garden Grant Program.  Max. Grant: $2,000.  Deadline: October 31st, 2013.

The program is designed to support school garden projects that help students learn about complex topics such as nutrition and health, sustainability and conservation, food systems, and community awareness.  To be eligible, an applicant must be a nonprofit K-12 school (public, private, or charter) and/or a 501(c)(3) organization in the United States (including its territories), the United Kingdom or Canada that is developing or currently maintaining a garden project on school grounds to interest children in fresh fruits and vegetables.  Garden projects may be at any stage of development (planning, construction, or operation). Priority will be given to both limited-resource communities and to projects that demonstrate strong buy-in from stakeholders, as well as ability to financially sustain the garden.  There is a limit of one grant per school.
