NOW OPEN: Enabling Accessibility in Workplaces

Funding for disability supportsGood day to you, Funds Fans!  Some breaking news this morning 🙂

Employment and Social Development Canada has opened up a Call for Proposals under the Enabling Accessibility in Workplaces funding stream.  For the purpose of this Call for Proposals (CFP), funding will be provided to successful applicants to facilitate and support employment opportunities for people with disabilities through construction and renovation projects that will improve accessibility in the workplace. This CFP is open to small businesses and social enterprises only.  Maximum Grant: $50,000.  Deadline: January 20, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. EST

Applicants must submit proposals which include either construction, renovation and/or retrofit activities for:

  • facilities where people with disabilities work or in which job opportunities could be maintained or created specifically for people with disabilities;
  • motor vehicles for work use; and
  • information and communications technologies for work use.

Eligible Applicants include:

  • Small businesses: a for-profit organization with fewer than 50 employees and less than $5 million in gross revenue per year. For the purpose of this CFP, a small business applicant must demonstrate the existence of an employer-employee relationship in its organization to be eligible for funding. An applicant organization would demonstrate the employer-employee relationship based on the answers in the Application for Funding/Agreement (see Question 35). Self-employed individuals are not eligible for funding.
  • Social enterprises: an ongoing business or venture of any size owned by a not-for-profit organization (including charities and co-operatives) that is directly involved in the production and/or selling of goods and/or services for the blended purpose of generating income and achieving value in social, cultural and/or environmental aims.
