More funds! Agriculture and Community Programs

FundingHi Funds Fans!  Looking for an island amidst the vast ocean of funding need?  Here are two “land-hoys” for you to have a look at.

The BC Agricultural Research & Development Corporation is offering funding to projects that address agriculture environment issues and wildlife impact mitigation.  Projects should be aimed at improving environmental sustainability in agriculture. Topics addressed may for example be related to soil, air or water quality, water conservation, pesticide reduction and biodiversity.

Wildlife impact mitigation projects may involve innovative ways of reducing wildlife impacts in an environmentally responsible way. Generally projects will be submitted by farm associations or agriculturally oriented organizations with support from the agricultural community.   Government agencies, universities and colleges may be participants in a proposal but are not eligible to apply.

A maximum of 85% of the cash cost of a project can be provided by the program.  Deadline: May 9th, 2014.

 

The Provincial Employee Community Services Fund (PECSF), also known as the Community Fund, focuses on charities that are in our local communities.  Requests of less than 40% of total budget that are sustainable beyond the funding cycle will be reviewed.  Application deadline: May 31st, 2014. 

PECSF support organizations that contribute to enhancing the quality of life in British Columbia and preference will be given to organizations with a project/ program or service that:

  • Aligns with organization’s mission and mandate, has two years of success
  • Has staff expertise and involves volunteers
  • Positively impacts 20+ people
  • Adds regional value and is innovative
  • Aids other organizations in region through its outcomes
  • Involves external evaluation and performance measurement
  • Requests less than 40% of total budget and is sustainable beyond the funding cycle

 To be eligible for funding, the following statements must be true of the applying organization:

  • Valid Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) registration number.
  • Compliant with BC Societies Act requirements (if applicable).
  • Compliant with PECSF reporting requirements from past funding cycles.
  • Operational for a minimum of three years.
  • Less than 20% of organizational budget directed to administrative costs.
  • No deficits or large debts.

Note: Applications will be declined if the Community Fund is the sole source of funding.
