The green is in! More funds for school projects

Green is in!Greetings and other socially acceptable salutations, Funds Fans!  In cleaning up my database of funding sources, I’ve come across a number of openings.  That is to say, we are in the green again today.  Again, these will be of particular interest to teachers, schools and other education driven associations.

To start, the Greening Canada’s School Grounds program is accepting applications for projects that will revitalize Canada’s school grounds by planting trees.  Trees provide shade and protection from solar radiation, adding beauty to the playgrounds and fields where our children play and learn.  Maximum Grant: $3000.00  DeadlineDecember 31, 2012.

Next we have the McConnell Family Foundation’s Community Service-Learning (CSL) Awards program which provides a model of experiential learning that combines classroom learning with volunteer work designed to achieve community goals and to instill in students a sense of civic engagement.  Community organizations and post-secondary institutions are invited to jointly submit an application by January 31, 2013.  A total of $30,000 is available for up to four awards of $7,500 each.   Award winners will be announced in June 2013 at a public event and several outstanding initiatives will be profiled in the media.  Any community initiative in Canada that is supported by community service-learning activities at the post-secondary level is eligible.

Please share with your networks Canada-wide and don’t forget to  have a look the December Deadline Alert for other funding opportunities.
