Funding for agriculture environment issues

Agriculture Environment Initiative B.CGood day, Funds Fans!  Some special news for farm-related organizations today 🙂

The Agriculture Environment Initiative addresses agriculture environment issues and wildlife impact mitigation; provides funding assistance for projects aimed at improving environmental sustainability in agriculture. Topics addressed may for example be related to soil, air or water quality, water conservation, pesticide reduction and/or biodiversity.  Wildlife impact mitigation projects may involve innovative ways of reducing wildlife impacts in an environmentally responsible way.

The objectives are to address:

  • Emerging issues that increase in priority as industry develops appropriate responses to new public expectations for environmental sustainability and co-existence with wildlife.
  • Continued improvement in environmentally responsible farming practices that are essential to the economic sustainability of agriculture in the longer term.

Eligible applicants are generally farm associations or agriculturally oriented organizations with support from the agricultural community.  Government agencies, universities and colleges may be participants in a proposal but are not eligible to apply.

A maximum of 85% of the cash cost of a project can be provided by the program.  Deadline: February 7th, 2014
